Lantz Järn & Metall can finally work quickly and efficiently

Lantz Järn & Metall thinks sustainably. Ever since the company was founded in 1998, it has invested in new technology and innovative solutions to recycle iron and metal as efficiently as possible. Taking in large quantities of iron and metal scrap from companies and private individuals and then sorting and processing the iron and metal so that it can be resold as regenerated raw materials for new products, involves a lot of logistics and transportation. If it is to be possible to run a sustainable business where everything is done as time- and resource-efficiently as possible, the administrative processes also need to be modern and efficient. This was solved with Visma Business as a new business system.

Four slow systems become one fast one

In a business as complex as Lantz Järn & Metall, you need to keep track of many processes and flows. Previously, they had no less than four different systems - one for the cash register, one for weighing the trucks, one for planning the transportation of the trucks and containers, and one accounting system. The fact that these different systems did not work together caused problems.

  • Having to enter all customers and transactions manually into the different systems meant a lot of duplication. All the work had to be done at least twice, such as retrieving cash reports and then entering them by hand into the accounting system. "It's very cumbersome to work in four different systems. On the one hand, it takes time that could be used for better things, and on the other, the risk of errors increases when values are manually transferred between the different solutions," says Jonas Nordström, who is the financial manager at Lantz Järn & Metall, and was tasked with implementing a new business system.

In addition, the old solutions could not keep up with the growth of the business. Today, the company handles around 700 invoices per month and about 200 daily transactions on top of that. Something that the old system had problems coping with.

  • Having to wait 15 minutes for a performance report is not sustainable. We need to be able to work more efficiently than that," says Jonas.

All this was solved when Traventus integrated all four systems in the business into the new Visma Business system.

Visma Business, a faster and more customizable solution

When they realized that they needed a new system that could save time, that had the capacity to cope with the business both today and in the future, that was quick to work in and that was adaptable to the business, they looked for new solutions. With these requirements, it soon became clear that Visma Business could be a suitable solution.

In addition, we are constantly coming up with new things we need and that would be good, and they can solve that for us and adapt the solution to our business, says Jonas.

Jonas also has some good advice for those who are thinking about modernizing their processes and acquiring a new business system:

  • Changing systems is a major transition. It is important to be well prepared, to familiarize yourself with all the processes and to have a good understanding of how everything works and what is needed. But even if you prepare well, it is not easy to have a full understanding of what a new system means and can do, and the more you learn about the possibilities along the way, the more you realize that you want. So it's important to work with a solution and a supplier that makes it easy to supplement the system along the way. It is also important to remember that all the functions you had in the old solution are not always included from the start in the new system, so you go through with the supplier what it is you need and do not take things for granted.
